How soon should the tripwire be presented after someone has opted into a lead magnet?

Usually, the 5-step sales process that we teach is an "acquisition" funnel, which is built to acquire customers at a profit.

With that said, your leads are going to be more engaged and interested in "what you have to offer" on the first visit, than they will be in their subsequent 2nd, 3rd or even 14th visit.

So, ideally... Your tripwire should be presented immediately after they opt-in, to break even on the cost of acquiring the traffic and leads.

On another related note, upon the checkout of the tripwire you would show someone an upsell for the core product. You can use tools like ClickFunnels or SamCart to do this.

If someone doesn't buy your core offer right away you would want to continually email them with different approaches for the next week or so to get them to try and buy your core product. Such as emailing them a case study of how the core product helped someone and the results they got.
