Which market should I start addressing, the [my native language] speaking market, or the English speaking one?

Go with your native language and then expand later to other markets in different languages. Yes it is smaller, but also less competitive.  It's also closer to home, which means it will probably be easier for you to refine and really drive conversion for your business.
